Vale bucks the trend!

While Computer Science and IT qualifications nationally are seeing falling numbers of girls taking on these subjects leading to a male dominated sector, students and staff at The Vale are ignoring this trend. 

Uptake and success by girls in Computer Science and IT has always been strong at The Vale.  This has now been recognised by The National Centre for Computing Education as The Vale Computing Department receive their award for commitment to the “I Belong” programme.

Vale Students have a choice of a range of Computing based subjects at Key Stage 4 with GCSE Computer Science and Cambridge National Level 2 in IT on offer, as well as a new Cambridge National Level 2 in Creative iMedia being added to the curriculum from September 2024. 

Students can continue their studies with Computer Science, IT and Media Studies all offered as A Level or equivalent courses at The Vale Academy’s 6^th form.
