Exceptional Standards Achieved at The Vale Academy, Brigg
The Vale Academy in Brigg is once again celebrating exceptional academic performance after the recent publication of the National School League Tables The Vale Academy – Compare school and college performance data in England – GOV.UK. This year’s results cement the school’s position as the top attaining school in North and North-East Lincolnshire.
The highlights of this year’s results announcement saw 65% of students achieving grade 5 (strong pass) or higher in English and Mathematics. Principal at The Vale Academy, Dr Stokes said, ‘these results are testament to the positive relationships between staff and students and show that students at The Vale have ‘worked with resilience and tenacity’. She went on to say these results are ‘the highest in Lincolnshire by almost 10% and the best in the history of the school.’
The Vale Academy continues to make rapid progress and in the same year has also recorded an impressive attainment score of 51.1 – this figure is once again, the highest in North and North-East Lincolnshire. A further positive is the schools overall Progress 8 score which judges students’ progress from their starting points when arriving from primary school in their best 8 subjects. The Progress score of +0.46 has classified the students as making ‘above average’ progress when compared to other schools in England. We are especially proud of the fact that our disadvantaged students achieved a progress score of +0.07. This places the school in the top groups of schools nationally.
Principal, Dr Stokes expressed further pride in the students’ achievements when emphasising the academy’s commitment to excellence in, not only teaching and learning, but also the wider Trust offer. “We have an extensive enrichment package, including a variety of residential experiences, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for all students,” Dr Stokes remarked.
Dr Stokes commented that the current Year 11 students are undertaking their trial exams and that the bar has been set high and that students are engaging well in their preparations for the next series of public examinations.
Further to this academic success, the recent announcements of subsidised travel to the school, along with improvements to existing facilities such as new IT rooms and a fitness suite are testament to The Vale Academy’s commitment to the holistic development of its students.
