Year 6 Open Evening

12th September 2017

Invitations are extended to Year 6 children and their parents to visit The Vale Academy during an open evening and separate open morning.

The superb new facilities on Atherton Way will be open from 6pm on Thursday, 28th September, providing a perfect opportunity to see why the academy is ranked in the country’s top 25% of all schools in England by the Department of Education.

With excellent GCSE results, a new building and dedicated staff, there has never been a better time to attend The Vale.

For those who cannot make that date, or wish to visit the academy on a ‘normal’ working day, there is an Open Morning on Tuesday, 3rd October.

Principal Nicola Williams hoped as many Year 6 children and their parents as possible would take up the invitation to experience the first class teaching and learning environment.

Ofsted rates The Vale ‘good with outstanding features’ and it came second in the Scunthorpe Telegraph’s performance tables for the whole of North Lincolnshire.

Mrs Williams was “delighted” by the summer’s results.

A total of 67% of students achieved a ‘standard’ 4+ pass - the equivalent of the old grade C - in English and Maths.  46% achieved a ‘strong’ 5+ pass in the two subjects combined.

Results in English were particularly ‘outstanding' with 86% of students achieving a grade 4+ and 63% grade 5+.

Mrs Williams said: “The results were a credit to our students and staff who coped with the new, more challenging, GCSEs in English and Maths.

“I was also really pleased to see a number of students achieve the new top grade 9 in both subjects.

“We have an excellent reputation and an established trend of high student outcomes which are consistently above those achieved nationally.

“But this school is much more than just academic performance.

“The rigour expected in the classroom is balanced by the many extra-curricular and enrichment activities on offer which help to instil a passion for learning as well as nurturing individual talents.

“As a result, our students are well rounded, caring young people who have high aspirations.

“We know the students well and our talented team of staff genuinely want the best for the young people in our care.

“We are also very well supported by parents, carers, governors and our sponsor, Delta Academies Trust.

“Our Open Evening and Open Morning present the ideal opportunities to experience ‘The Vale Way’ and see why September 2018 will be a perfect time to join our academy,” Mrs Williams added.
